SPORT ENGLAND FUNDING
Bury Girls & Ladies FC have worked really hard to
promote girls football in the local community. They have now received
a further boost as they have been awarded a £6500 grant from Sport England
as part of their Small Grants Programme funded through the Lottery.
Bury Girls & Ladies FC will start their 'Working with Schools' project in
the next couple of weeks. Schools in the borough have already been
contacted and so far 6 Primary Schools and 4 High Schools will be receiving
training from experienced coaches over the coming months, with further space
for 5 more schools. The coaching sessions will be followed by 3
Football Festivals so all participants get the opportunity to put their new
found skills to the test with a mini-tournament, skills sessions, goal
keeper coaching and a general fun day out. From this the Club hopes to
attract further new members to the Club at all age groups and to continue to
increase participation in girls football in the community.

will enable us to promote coach and referee development at the Club.
11 girls aged 14/15 years will undertake a Basic Referees Course on the 28th
& 29th December 2010 and the whole of the Under 15s squad (18 players) will
complete a Junior Football Organisers Course (JFO) in March 2011.
At Bury Girls & Ladies FC we like to offer our girls the chance to further
improve their skills not just in football but personally as well.
These courses can aid future careers, help with college applications, Duke
of Edinburgh awards and personal development. On completion of the
courses the girls will be offered the full support of the Club and the LFA
to continue their development should they wish to progress further.
These players could be our coaches and referees of the future, keeping
